Project 1: Sketching Analysis

(Ind) From a list of different structures from different time periods, we had to conduct research in regards to their history, construction, materials, layout, etc. The time periods and the corresponding structures I chose are as follows:

Pre Historic ----- Skara Brae
Ancient Egyptian ----- Great Temple of Ramesses II
Ancient Greece and Rome ----- The Temple of Athena Nike
Middle Ages and Renaissance ----- St. Peter's Basilica
Age of Enlightenment ----- Altes Museum

Reflection

MLO 1

MLO 1 - Employ appropriate visual and verbal architectural vocabulary when referring to building types, series and periods.

While conducting research, I was exposed to different uses of terms. Each term conveyed different features and characteristics of the structure.

MLO 2

MLO 2 - Show the appropriate sequence of historical periods and how they are represented architecturally.

Each historical period had its key inventions and characteristics. Identifying them helped to corelate each period to another.

MLO 3

MLO 3 - Discover the way in which many varied factors contribute to the development of
form.

From research, I understand that environmental factors, cultural reasons and societal requirements all influenced the architectural requirements of a structure.
